January 2012
Barbershop Midwinter Convention
— in Tucson for January of 2012

And isn't this a great picture they used for the program? Now that is a quartet!

The convention included the International Seniors Quartet Competition and the International Youth Barbershop Chorus Festival, both of which were really great! Excellent singing. We also heard the International Collegiate Quartet Champions, and the top several quartets from the International Quartet Championship last summer.

This was the fifth year of the International Youth Barbershop Chorus Festival, and the collegiate quartet competition has now been an annual event for twenty years. That seems to mean more folks getting started earlier in barbershop singing — not when approaching retirement like with some of our folks.

For us, this year, the closest thing we had to a competition participant was at the Friday morning "Sing with the Seniors Champs" event, where our own George Franklin (left) sang with the outgoing Seniors Quartet champions "Over Easy".

If you enjoy barbershop style music, watch for our next show and come hear us sing.
Or come sing with us. It's really fun!

The New MexiChords is an a cappella barbershop chorus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society.
