|Our show was in May of 2011. It was a fun show to perform, and our audiences thought we did well, too. Part of our advertising was by posters and flyers like this.|
The pictures below are from that show.
One of the songs was "Wells Fargo Wagon", performed as part of a medley of songs from 1962's The Music Man.
We really saw the wagon coming.
Some of the songs were introduced by our cast party's host, John Taylor. Others were linked with some fun dialog. Here, Carl Pennington notes his grandkids' Disney password was "Mickey Minnie Goofy Pluto" because the rule was the password "had to be at least four characters."
A fun song to sing was "You've Got A Friend In Me", from the Toy Story movies beginning with Toy Story in 1995. In one key phrase, we're singing "stronger, too."
In addition to songs by the full chorus, we also had performances by quartets. Here, the quartet Freddie Mac and the 4 Closers stands in front of the chorus to sing "It Had To Be You", from the 1942 classic movie Casablanca.
In a closer view, you can actually see the quartet members in front of the chorus.
We also got to hear the 2010 Rocky Mountain District Senior Champion quartet After School another quartet from our own chorus singing "Lullaby In Ragtime" from 1959's The Five Pennies
Our show had a special guest quartet, as noted on our show flyer. Our guest quartet was the Barbershop Harmony Society's 2009 Far Western District Quartet Champions, The Edge.
Our audience really enjoyed their songs.
The Edge joined the New MexiChords for the show's finale, "God Bless America" from the 1943 movie This Is the Army.
If you enjoy this kind of singing, watch for our next show and come hear us sing.
Or come sing with us. It's really fun!
The New MexiChords is an a cappella barbershop chorus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society.
